The main thing from the analysis of Destruction AllStars from Digital Foundry – arcade at 60 FPS – review

A few days ago Sony released Destruction AllStars, and Digital foundry already prepared a technical analysis of the racing arcade.

There isn’t much to discuss, though. The game runs in dynamic 4K with a maximum value of 1836r and a minimum of 1296r. The rate varies with scenes to maintain a higher frame rate. The average resolution is 1620r. Overall, the game looks good.

But with performance, unfortunately, everything is not always good: in a couple of modes in particularly difficult scenes, the game can crash up to 48 FPS – this often happens at the beginning of the Gridfall mode, the local analogue of the battle royale. But the rest of the arcade manages to quite successfully hold 60 FPS.

Frame rate jumps could be fixed by variable frame rate (VRR), but the PS5 is still not taking advantage of this feature. As hinted at by DF, VRR implementation was difficult enough for Microsoft and LG on the Xbox, so you can’t just “enable” the feature – it takes work.

In general, much can still be corrected in the upcoming updates, because Destruction AllStars intend to support at least a year – and if the game shoots, which the release in PS Plus should contribute, we may have a new one Rocket league… Or not.
