Outriders Comparison Between PS5, Xbox Series, PS4 and Xbox One

Digital foundry got to the demo Outriderswhich was released about a week ago on all current platforms.

Today experts took a look at four versions – for the PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Xbox One X. The latter was taken as the best one to compare with the options for the next generation consoles.

If we talk about the difference between PS5 and Xbox Series X, then the picture is standard: the Sony console has a slightly lower resolution with a stable 60 FPS, while the older Microsoft system has a higher resolution with a less stable 60 FPS.

Resolution

  • PS5 – from 1260r to 1800r
  • Xbox Series X – $ 1440 to $ 2088
  • Xbox Series S – $ 900 to $ 1440
  • Xbox One X – $ 1728 to $ 1944

All consoles, including the Series S, use technology to further enhance the image up to 4K resolution. Each of the options is called pretty good – “the picture looks clean” even on the Series S.

But there are problems with performance: on the Xbox One X, the frame rate is locked at 30 FPS, but even reaching it, there are great difficulties with the supply of frames – framing.

In particularly hot action scenes, the feed suffers

On nextgen consoles, due to the focus on reaching 60 FPS, there is no problem with frame rate, however, on both Xbox Series, it is not possible to achieve a stable frame rate: on Series S, even in the hub, the number of frames drops to 45, while on Series X – to 50.

On the PlayStation 5, with very rare exceptions, there are no problems with stability right now – in 99.9% of situations, the action runs at a stable 60 frames per second.

Digital Foundry expects that the dynamic resolution on both Xbox Series will be made more aggressive for release – so that, if necessary, the game can lower the indicators below to achieve a stable 60 FPS, like on the PS5.

Blogger VG Tech I also managed to conduct my analysis of Outriders, but on PS4 Pro, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox One X. The performance of all four is roughly the same – with fairly stable 30 FPS, they all suffer from unstable frame feed.

The resolution, according to VG Tech, is as follows:

  • Xbox One X – R1512 to R1944 (differs from DF data)
  • PS4 Pro – $ 1140 to $ 1560
  • PS4 – 720p to 1080p
  • Xbox One – from 684r to 900r.

Digital Foundry notes that Outriders was created primarily for consoles of the outgoing generation, where for all the problems with the frame feed, it looks pretty good. On systems of the new generation, in fact, they only increased the frame rate.
