Major Ubisoft franchises will get quality F2P games – but not to the detriment of AAA

Representatives Ubisoft on a fresh quarterly report, they reiterated that they plan to expand their release portfolio – in addition to successful large-budget projects, the publisher wants to build a decent line of mobile and shareware games.

However, the media distorted the words of the publisher, which is why a different wording left the network – that the publisher, at the price of the AAA segment, will begin to deal with mobile and F2P releases. This is not true.

Misinformation became so widespread that the situation had to to comment on Ubisoft Senior Analyst Sean Lam.

Speaking of free-to-play games will become the majority of the publisher’s revenue, this does not mean that there will be fewer traditional paid games like Assassin’s Creed. It’s about expanding content. A good example is the evolution of Call of Duty with Warzone“.

According to Lam, the company is not going to replace traditional projects with F2P games – on the contrary, the publisher wants to expand the audience of brands through shareware releases. An excellent example is Call of Duty: Warzone

In general, Ubisoft plans to release the same high-quality and expensive shareware projects – there will be no fundamental difference in the budget of such releases. I wonder what awaits Assassin’s creed, Watch dogs and other brands when expanding to F2P.
