“Chances Are Small”: Former Game Director of Evolution Studios Talks About the Future of DriveClub and MotorStorm

Former Game Director DriveClub Paul Rastchinski tweeted the accumulated questions from users regarding the future of the game with the release Playstation 5

According to him, fans shouldn’t expect any meaningful race improvements on the new console. The game’s frame rate is capped at 30 FPS and resolution is 1080p, so the maximum you can count on is faster download speeds.

Also, he writes, it is highly unlikely that Sony will be engaged in a remaster or sequel to DriveClub.… There are several reasons for this: the first is the game developers Evolution Studios were disbanded in 2016; second – Sony now has Gran turismo as a key racing franchise; and third, the cost of renewing licenses for a remaster will be too expensive.

As for the series MotorStorm, on which Rastchinski worked as lead designer, he does not know if there are any projects under the franchise in development, but the IP belongs to Sony and the company can revive it at any time

“I would say the chances are slim, but I don’t rule out anything. So keep hope!”

In the summer, Paul Rastchinski took a job in Avalanche Studios, and before that oversaw the production Project CARS 3 at Slightly Mad Studios and OnRush at Codemasters.
