a fund to support online content may appear in Russia – Igromania

According to RBC, in Russia this year they plan to create a fund to support content on the network, in particular, for online cinemas.

First of all, we are talking about the series of digital platforms that they create themselves. The budget of the fund and the terms of support have not yet been discussed, but one of the options may be co-financing of projects. Whether it will be a completely new fund is also unclear.

They can take the VAT of online cinemas as funds – about 3 billion rubles a year are spent on this. The Institute for the Development of the Internet is considering one of the potential operators for the distribution of finances – in 2023, the organization has already supported 13 TV series worth more than 612 million rubles.

According to the director general of the analytical agency TelecomDaily, state support will be able to stimulate the production of new content, since now the sites create it at a loss for themselves, and only one project out of four or five is “firing”.

In addition, according to one of RBC’s sources, Russian game developers will also be able to apply for subsidies. Discussions on this issue have been going on for a long time, but no specific conclusions have yet been voiced.
