The Ukrainian studio 4A Games, which created Metro, headed for ray tracing and spoke about the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X

Ukrainian studio 4A games reported in an interview Eurogamer abandonment of old rendering methods. The creators of the trilogy Metro 2033 completely switch to ray tracing, which was already partially used in last year’s shooter Metro: Exodus.

“We completely switch to raytracing and completely abandon the old-fashioned principles of writing code / technologies. Inside the studio we experimented a lot and have achieved impressive results today, but you will have to wait to see what our future projects will offer,” said Oles Shishkovtsov , CTO of 4A Games.

Interestingly, when we started talking about next-generation systems Xbox Series X and Playstation 5, Shishkovtsov noted that he was more enthusiastic about the features of the consoles that had not yet been presented to the general public. At the moment, the only thing known about consoles is that both are based on a bunch of processor AMD Zen 2 and graphs Navi with hardware support for ray tracing, they will offer improvements in sound processing, significantly reduce the download time in games through the use of a solid state drive, and will be able to run content in resolution up to 8K.

According to analysts, the cost of consoles at the start of sales will be in the region 499 dollars. The launch will take place this fall.
