4A Games praised Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation 5 for powerful processors: old restrictions no longer exist

Shooter Metro: Exodus went out yesterday on Xbox Series X / S and Playstation 5 with 4K / 60 FPS support, ray tracing, custom FOV and more. 4A Games has always been on the edge of cutting-edge technology in their games, and while re-releasing a project originally created for the last generation is not the best way to evaluate new consoles, it at least gave developers the opportunity to test them in action. Were the authors impressed by nextgen?

It seems quite. Speaking at the press roundtable, senior programmer 4A Games on rendering Ben Archard praised the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5, noting in particular the processors AMD Zen 2which is a significant upgrade from what was installed on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

“To be honest, these are very good processors. We found them to be very, very efficient. I am a rendering programmer, and in our opinion in the previous generation we were much more limited by processors and often heavily dependent on them. In this generation we did not fit how much “Somewhere close to such a big problem. So they are definitely much better than their pastgen cousins.”

He further added that the processors of the new set-top boxes can simplify and improve the efficiency of development in general, and not only in some specific points.

“With that said, we’re not the only department that puts a heavy load on the CPU, but we can vouch that these are great CPUs that perform across the board. I think many areas of development can benefit greatly from the increased power.”

Metro: Exodus – Enhanced Edition is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S and PC.
