Sony reserves a large number of PS5 chips – the company wants to sell 15 million consoles this year

On August 4, Sony released Q1 2023 financial results. In total, as of June 30, the company managed to sell 10.1 million PS5s, but Sony is not going to stop there.

CFO Hiroki Totoki said Sony has reserved enough PS5 chips to meet its fiscal year sales targets. The company has set itself the goal of selling more than 14.8 million consoles, thus increasing the total number of units sold since launch to 22.6 million units by March 31, 2023.

Totoki also added that Sony is well on its way and will soon be making profits from PS5 Digital Edition sales.

Earlier it was reported that sales of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and MLB The Show 21 exceeded the company’s expectations. Sony will continue to invest in PlayStation Studios to increase its ability to acquire studios and port games to PC.
