Free parkour, world size, 60 FPS and other news about Horizon Forbidden West – review addiction

Developers Horizon forbidden west handed out many interviews in which they shared fresh details of the role-playing action. We tried to collect the most important things from different materials.

The size of the open world is comparable to Zero Dawn… The developers decided not to expand the area, but to “deepen” it – to fill the locations with all sorts of content and details. In the sandbox of the sequel, there are much more small stories that are simply scattered around the map.

Another important aspect of the continuation was free parkour – in the original, acrobatics was very limited, which constrained the exploration of the world. Forbidden West wanted to move to a more “open” movement – where you can climb almost all surfaces.

The system is very similar to the classic Assassin’s creed, when there are many ledges and the ability to choose exactly how to climb – in the first part there was an almost straight line from which it was impossible to deviate.

In addition, Aloy now has a grappling hook and a glider – all this will allow you to explore the terrain much more freely. Now you won’t have to go around the mountains, and they won’t hold you by the handle. Exploration of the world has become much more vertical“.

Guerrilla pays a lot of attention to the PlayStation 4 version – a significant part of the development takes place on it. The PlayStation 5 version will also boast improved graphics – for example, the unique lighting for Aloy on PS4 will only be in cutscenes, and on PS5 during gameplay.

And on the PlayStation 5, there will be a performance mode with 60 FPS.

The developers also reworked many aspects of the original – for example, they expanded melee combat with combinations, and created the pumping tree and the crafting system from scratch.

Development of Forbidden West is on schedule – according to the plan, they want to release the sequel in November-December, but if necessary, the team will be able to postpone the project until next year. The release is expected on PS5 and PS4.
