China’s Tencent acquires a majority stake in Don’t Starve and Mark of the Ninja makers

Chinese holding Tencent concluded agreement to acquire a controlling stake in an independent Canadian studio Klei Entertainment (Don’t Starve and Mark of the Ninja).

According to the founder of Klei Entertainment Jamie “Bigfoot” Chen, developers will keep “complete independence in matters of creativity and internal activities in all aspects of the studio, including projects, talents and more”

Tencent has been investing in gaming companies for years. For example, she invested in the creators Warframe, Path of exile, League of legends, PUBG, Clash of clans, Fortnite and many others.
