China continues to move West: Tencent acquires minority stake in developers DayZ and ARMA

Chinese holding Tencent reached an agreement with Bohemia Interactive (DayZ, ARMA, Vigor and Ylands) on the acquisition of a minority (non-controlling) stake in a Czech studio. This became known from press release developers.

Following the financial investment, Bohemia Interactive will continue to operate as an independent studio. Among other things, the former management team will be in charge of all operations.

Bohemia Interactive and Tencent are currently collaborating on a sandbox-building set Ylands for gamers and game creators from China.

We are ready to work on our current and future games with the support of a strong partner who has known us for many years and understands our unique approach to online gaming,” the press said. -release.

The terms of the partnership agreement have not been disclosed yet.

Interestingly, information about the purchase of shares of the Czech team by the Chinese holding appeared back in June last year, but Bohemia then promptly disowned from a partnership with Tencent.

A little earlier a Chinese company acquired a share in a french studio Dontnod (Life is Strange and Vampyr). Holding also invested funds for a Russian studio Mundfish, which is currently developing the action-adventure Atomic Heart.
