BIOHAZARD: The Outbreak Chronicles – a sudden leak of information about two new games!

While before the official release date of the remake of the game Resident evil 3 there are only a few days left, the first details of two other projects of this game series (in Japan known as Biohazard) under development. Datamener under the nickname MrGraveDigger I was able to get a part of the project documentation by posting in the public domain a number of details about the unexpected find. The leak has contributed to the transition of many company employees to the remote mode of operation, which allowed to transfer some of the existing developments from the central office in Osaka to home computers and public servers. Of course, copyright holders quickly deleted information from the network, but some of the published information still managed to spread across the Internet.

In particular, it became known that Capcom is actively working on a game called BIOHAZARD: The Outbreak Chronicles, which is a new part of an offshoot of the first-person rail shooter line that previously included games BIOHAZARD: The Umbrella Chronicles and BIOHAZARD: The Darkside Chroniclescoming out on consoles Nintendo wii and Playstation 3. The new game is also a rail shooting gallery, however, it is being developed on the modern RE Engine and is created with an eye to using VR headsets.

The Outbreak Chronicles will offer a new look at the events from the old Outbreak’s dilogy, which will complement and expand the history of the city of Raccoon City and its residents, introducing new players to a variety of characters, locations and circumstances that were not included in the remakes of the second and third parts of the franchise. Most of the in-game content migrated directly from them, thereby allowing developers to focus on the plots of narrated stories and the variety of characters that are planned for at least 16. Each has its own unique feature and short biography. Datamainer claims that most of the characters migrated directly from the original Outbreak’s, however, completely new heroes appeared among them.

The documentation also describes the network component as a symmetric session cooperative multiplayer for up to four people. Many fans of the original will probably be disappointed that instead of a full-fledged remake they will receive a rail-oriented VR-oriented shooting gallery, however, the author of the find notes that the emphasis in the game is on the frightening atmosphere, the narration of the characters’ stories and the variety of choices of actions within the proposed routes, but not at all for continuous shooting at monsters.

Oddly enough, the second project, information about which fell into the hands of the datamineer, is at a much later stage of development, and the leak even contained screenshots from the early build of the game, which, according to an eyewitness, looked simply stunning. The game is most reminiscent of Resident evil 7 and instead of urbanistic landscapes of modern cities, takes the player to a provincial outback far from modern civilization. The emphasis is on a detailed study of the environment and the interaction of the character with it. Only mentions of next-generation consoles appear in the files, so it would be reasonable to assume that it is with an eye on their production capacities that the game is created.

MrGraveDigger stressed that at the moment the game does not have a combat system and there are no enemies, while the emphasis in development is precisely on maximizing immersion in the game world and solving problems by directly interacting with the environment and objects to solve problems. However, do not think that we are waiting for some kind of boring quest: the documentation mentions at least five types of monsters that the player will meet. Among them are creatures similar to inside-out wolves (Wolfominations), anthropomorphic plants, similar to ossified trees (Toothtrees), some completely new variation of the living dead (Paleskins), some mutated deer (Molddeers) and, apparently , some ghostly entities (Ghosterheists). One of the characters in the game is called Ethan Winters, which means that we are likely to have a direct continuation of the events of the game Resident evil 7. The project does not yet have a final name and is currently under the heading “Winter may cry

At the same time, the author of the leak himself asks to pay special attention to the calendar, since, despite all the contradictory nature and curiosity of the information discovered, he would not want to leave you in the cold. Seriously, no offense. If possible, stay home, take care of your health, and enjoy the games. Happy holiday!
