Techland Postponed Dying Light 2 Release for ‘Ambition’ and Ray Tracing

Studio Techland decided to postpone the release date Dying light 2to spend extra time on the implementation of all available ideas. The leading producer of the project told journalists about this. Eugene Harton.

The Polish studio announced the transfer of its project at the end of January 2023. After that, Techland moved to a new office in Wroclaw, which is located opposite the old one.

Note that Dying Light 2 will be released not only on PC, Xbox One and PS4, but also on the next generation consoles. As Harton explained, the developers are extremely interested in introducing ray tracing technology into the project.

Developers have great ambitions in terms of graphics, and implementation RTX from Nvidia in the most favorable way will affect the atmosphere and save the team from the need to seek compromises. So, Techland mentions realistic shadows in sunny weather.

As for the horror elements, the Poles are experimenting with light reflected from surfaces from artificial sources (flashlight). Techland also wants to spend additional time on bringing to mind the plot elements, the open world and the system of consequences from the election of players.

“Creating such a world takes time, and Dying Light 2 is an evolution of where we started in the first game,” Harton explained.
