Valve-style charity: Gabe Newell launches garden gnome into space and donates funds for children’s clinic

Earlier this month, we told about an interesting charity event organized by the legend of the gaming industry Gabe Newell and company Rocket lab… Partners launched a new satellite into Earth orbit along with a plastic garden gnome Chomsky, repeating in real life the famous in-game achievement from the cult shooter Half-Life 2: Episode Two

The satellite launch process was broadcast 15th of November in real time, and according to the organizers’ plan, for each viewer of an unusual stream, as well as for everyone who got acquainted with his recording during the first day, Gabe Newell had to highlight one dollar each

The results of the action were as follows – Rocket lab and Newell were able to attract the attention of almost three hundred thousand people, collecting USD 286,092

Now these funds will be transferred to the account of the New Zealand Children’s Clinic Starship to the intensive care unit

The representatives of the clinic have already expressed their gratitude to everyone who supported the action, as well as Gabe Newell personally.
