Gabe Newell tested Steam Deck in Dota 2

In an interview with IGN, Gabe Newell was asked if there were any “specific features” that the head of Valve asked for the developers to add to the Steam Deck. To which Newell replied:

“Well, with every new version I got, I immediately ran Dota 2 on it. I focused more on ‘usability testing’.”

According to the head of the company, the popular MOBA is not very suitable for playing in a mobile format, so good control with the help of a trackpad was very important for Gabe.

“I look at this from the perspective of a gamer, not as a president.”

Valve previously showed trackpad and gyroscope controls on the Steam Deck and said the laptop is rated for 30 FPS gaming.
