Theory: Presentation of the PlayStation 5 led CGI-model of real people

However, the gaming community cares about one question: who led the presentation? The fact is that viewers noticed a number of oddities. Game trailers were interrupted by interruptions and short speeches by developers, including leading Sony employees and other studios.

Only the heads were shown, and the recordings were clearly heavily processed after filming. In addition, before the stream it was announced that the broadcast quality was reduced to 1080p / 30fps, which led the audience into bewilderment. This was explained by the desire to reduce the load on the Internet in a pandemic, although some videos were published in the highest quality.

However, something was wrong. I especially want to highlight the performance of the creator Gran turismo Kazunori Yamauchi. Unnaturalness was seen in the movements of his body, and the effect of the “sinister valley” and the 3D model arose. However, it is possible that this is due to the chosen hands-on-belt pose of the developer.

Other viewers point to the president’s shirt Sie Jim Ryanwell, which looks very unnatural. Unnaturally the lighting fell on the chapter Worldwide studios Herman Hulst.

There are several explanations for the oddities. The most popular one is as follows: the games presented CGI-models of developers that were launched on the PS5. Post-processing was also involved in order to hide the imperfections of the picture. In addition, a warning appeared at the beginning of the stream that the gameplay recorded from the new console would be shown.

Edition Polygon I asked Sony representatives for clarification, to which they replied that the performances were recorded at home. The problem is that at the end of the broadcast, a lot of different people were shown, and the videos were clearly not recorded in a professional studio, so various disadvantages were visible: poor video quality, poor lighting, noise and so on. The main speakers looked pretty uniform. In addition, they were located in different parts of the planet, given the quarantine, and it was difficult to achieve coordination.

Employees Digital foundry doubt that we are talking about 3D-models. They suggest that a bright lamp is to blame for everything, which is why what was happening looked unnatural. In addition, Sony could well ask key speakers to try to record their performances in good quality and under the same conditions, after which the picture was additionally processed to remove flaws.
