PlayStation 5 breaks all records – officially: Sony announces powerful launch and unprecedented demand for the console

Running Playstation 5 became the largest in the history of the brand Playstation, announced the company Sony Interactive Entertainment from their pages on social networks. The new console has started better than all its predecessors, and the demand for it is “unprecedented”. No specific sales figures were announced.

Sony thanked army of gamers for their support and promised to deliver more consoles to stores by the end of 2023

“The demand for the PlayStation 5 is unprecedented, so we would like to confirm that retailers will receive more consoles by the end of 2023. Please stay tuned for updates and news from local retailers,” it said.

Sony’s previous record holder for sales speed was PlayStation 4… In 2013, in the United States and Canada alone, it sold over 1 million consoles in the first 24 hours. Later, the launch of the PlayStation 4 was called the largest in the history of the industry, and if the PlayStation 5 beat it, it means that now the championship in terms of overall starting numbers belongs to it.

This has already been pointed out by analyst and insider Daniel Ahmad.

“The debut of the PlayStation 4 was a record in terms of net sales. So when Sony speaks of ‘its’ biggest launch with the PlayStation 5, it means it is about the biggest console launch ever,” he said.

Editor GamesIndustry.biz Chris Dring added that now all three platform-holders are doing well – Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft.
