Little Nightmares 2 Creator Clarified Something About The Game’s World And End – review Addiction

The final Little nightmares 2 can be called unforgettable and shocking. And the fact that the story of the inhabitants of a strange world is presented with a lot of understatements, makes fans of the game build a lot of theories about what is happening.

Portal GamingBible spoke to the senior story designer Tarsier Studios David Merwick. And he clarified some points and confirmed some theories. And, of course, the whole story is generously packed with spoilers!

Spoiler alert!

Merwick seems surprised that players perceived Little Nightmares 2’s finale as grim. From his point of view, Mono’s fate is not much different from the ending of the first part: both there and there the hero is trapped and seems to be winning. And both heroes become what they are, under the powerful and inevitable influence of the surrounding world.

The designer did not give a definite answer about the relationship between Mono and Subtle Man. Theories in this aspect differ: someone believes that the transformation of Mono into a Subtle person is an endless cycle, while someone is sure that this is just a role that is passed from one to another, and these are different people. According to Merwick, both can be the case.

Mervick also refused to give explanations on the structure of the world, saying only that everything in it is not accidental and everything has a reason. So, the Womb from the first game was born due to the existence of hunger. And the Tower is from the second – because someone needs an escape from reality.

The final scenes, of course, were the most questionable. And the designer confirmed the main theory about them: the events of Little Nightmares II really take place before the start Little nightmares… And in the hidden ending, where Sixth finds a poster with the Womb, she experiences her first hunger attack. And earlier she finds her famous yellow raincoat.

This scene (the fall of Mono – Ed.) And the ending that followed caused such a powerful reaction from the players that it can be most accurately described as “fierce love”. Unfortunately, this is one of those times when you just need to let people shout, “Why ?!” and fight the urge to respond.

I’ll just say that Six’s point of view is different from Mono’s point of view, and both of them see the world differently from the players. Who knows why kids do this? They are thrown into this world that hates them, and they need to find a way to live to maturity. And if we just sit back and watch this fight, then who are we to judge their methods?

David Merwick

The story designer admitted that he is enthralled by all the fan theories, and is happy that the game has so captivated people. And this is another reason to stay on the sidelines: after all, all this is very easy to destroy, confirming some theories and refuting others.

Since Tarsier Studios will no longer be working on the Little Nightmares series, we seem to be left with only these theories. Is that the complete picture of the world, designers and screenwriters will pass on to the successors.
