Sony Solves CMOS Battery Issue in PlayStation Consoles

At the end of last month, it turned out that Playstation 4 with a discharged battery, CMOS will not be able to run any games without connecting to Playstation networkrequired to synchronize the console’s internal clock. The same flaw was found through the experiment in PS5, but there, in a similar situation, the system still allows you to play with physical media, although not all.

The problem as a whole is not very serious and can be solved by simply replacing the battery, but if in the future Sony is going to disconnect the consoles from the PSN, owners of consoles with dead batteries will no longer be able to use them normally without service intervention.

Nevertheless, Sony did not ignore the problem. It is reported that the company has already contacted several users, notifying them that it is studying the situation.… Also, some insiders claim, citing internal sources, that the Sony PR team wants to deal with this issue as soon as possible.

Modder Lance McDonald previously noted that the failure to start games with a dead battery can be solved by releasing an update for the system software.
