Voting on The Game Awards 2023 was tried to be disrupted because of The Last of Us 2

This week on the award website The Game Awards 2023 voting has started in the nomination “Player voice“(Player’s Voice). We are talking about the choice of the game of the year according to the gaming community.

The voting was split into three rounds, the last of which started on December 6th. The game was leading in the first two rounds Ghost of tsushima (about 14% of the votes), and in second place was entrenched The Last of Us Part II (about 10%).

However, in the third round, the situation changed dramatically. The Last of Us Part II came out on top with 41% of the vote, while Ghost of Tsushima lagged behind, gaining 33%. The newly appointed co-president also called on to actively vote for his project Naughty dog Neil Druckmann, who wrote on social media that everyone voices “haters will lose the ability to use Caps Lock”.

And this clearly did not like some hackers. According to preliminary data, The Game Awards 2023 website was hacked, which makes it impossible to take part in the vote (connecting an account in social networks gives an error). At the same time, all the votes flowed to Ghost of Tsushima (shows 100%).

Founder of TGA Jeff Keighley has not yet commented on the incident. Judging by the latest changes, administrators are trying to revive the site and return the correct voting results. At the same time, bugs still remain.
