Yesterday we said that in the latest beta client update Steam found mentions of a possible portable console from Valve codenamed Neptune, also known as SteamPal.
Shortly thereafter, the edition Ars Technica citing its own sources, reported that the portable console from Valve does exist.
According to the sources, the console will run on Linux, and will also get a touchscreen and built-in control buttons. In addition, it can be connected to a TV or monitor via USB Type-C. The design of the device can be compared to the Nintendo Switch Lite.
Ars Technica notes that the console is still at the prototyping stage, but will likely receive a chip from Intel or AMD. One of the prototypes turned out to be wider than the Switch, as it received not only a standard set of buttons and triggers, but also a thumb-sized touchpad.
The final name and price of the console is not yet known, but Ars Technica notes that the device may go on sale before the end of this year.
