Rockstar Games parent company in talks to buy Codemasters

Take-Two Interactive, which owns Rockstar Games, 2K Games and the Private Division, is in talks to buy the British Codemasters, known for the racing games of the DiRT, GRID and F1 series.

Take-Two is reported to have made a preliminary offer to acquire all of Codemasters’ share capital… In the event that the holding company decides to continue the offer after the due diligence is completed and other conditions are met, Codemasters declares that the company’s board of directors intends to unanimously recommend that its shareholders accept the transaction.

In a comment to VCG, a Take-Two spokesman confirmed the information, saying the acquisition of Codemasters will allow developers to perform better at the expense of the holding’s resources. According to media reports, the deal could amount to £ 740 million ($ 973 million) in cash and shares.

Codemasters was recently bought by the team Slightly Mad Studios and received the rights to release games under license FIA World Rally Championship
