This game will surprise both fans and newcomers – many new details of the Resident Evil 3 remake

Today the embargo on the dissemination of information about the highly anticipated remake of the horror fell Resident evil 3 from company Capcom. Following the publication of fresh gameplay rollers and confirmation demos Journalists who spent about two hours playing the game hastened to share their impressions of what they saw, simultaneously disclosing a number of new details.

  • In a very positive way, the press describes the scene of the game – the city of Raccoon City. The streets engulfed in fire are filled with absolute chaos and challenge the players. Deadly threats await you from every corner – from the ubiquitous zombies to the haunting heroes of Nemesis. At the same time, as journalists say, gaming locations feel really large-scale and at the same time menacingly closed, creating the right atmosphere of fear and tension.
  • In visual terms, Raccoon City has moved from a somewhat conventional style of the original to a more realistic and modern approach. The streets are flooded with bright neon light, and the nooks and alleys familiar from the classic game are interpreted in an unusual way into the level structure, evoking pleasant feelings of nostalgia. At the same time, attentive players will be able to consider a lot of different “Easter eggs”, like recognizable signs and advertising posters that refer to your favorite project of the past.

  • As in the original game, individual sections of Resident Evil 3 locations are dotted with auxiliary interactive environmental elements. So, for example, by shooting in a red barrel with fuel, you can eliminate several opponents at once. And if you let the bullets into the transformer shield, then all the nearest zombies will be stunned for a while, so that Jill can get past them, avoiding confrontation.
  • Despite the fact that Resident Evil 3 remains more action-oriented title than the previous game, journalists rush to assure that fundamentally, the project still retained the roots of the classic parts of Resident Evil and without any doubt is a real survival horror with exploring locations, finding secrets and solving puzzles.

  • As was previously known, Resident Evil 3 returns a dodge mechanics that allows you to deftly bypass enemy attacks (it is activated by pressing the R1 button and moving the left stick). Functionally, it can be compared with a similar feature from Resident Evil Revelations 2, but with one small but important change: if the player ideally guesses the time for maneuver from an enemy attack, Jill will make a sure leap forward, after which the playing time will slow down for a few moments, which will allow you, for example, to take a few accurate shots or think about your further actions.

  • Against the background of the dodges, the developers changed another gameplay mechanics, namely a melee weapon – a knife. Now the blade has no margin of safety, but at the same time it cannot be used to free itself from the capture of opponents. Therefore, effective positioning and rolls are your new best ally.
  • The total number of zombies that Jill and Carlos will face, significantly exceeds the similar value from Resident Evil 2. This, of course, is justified from the plot point of view – a new game originates some time before the policeman Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield arrive in the dying city.

  • Despite the noticeable changes in the script, all characters are still recognizable. For example, Carlos actively flirts with Jill, and the brutal Nikolai retains the image of a cold and confident military man. In general, the press liked the cutscenes, freshly telling a long-familiar story.
  • One of Jill’s professional skills is the ability to break locks. In the new game, this fact of her biography will also be beaten, as throughout the city periodically there will be large padlocks hiding useful objects and locations. This in turn will be a good motivation for users to return to the already explored streets.

  • Zombies themselves try to surround and surprise users at every opportunity. Enemies come from all directions – fall from the roofs, get out from under the cars and move through the barricades, forcing you to constantly move. At the same time, the game balance has been slightly changed. Jill can withstand a little more damage, and opponents are more likely to fall from bullets.
  • Another nice innovation concerns the interaction with objects. Now, once picking up a thing (suppose a box of cartridges for a pistol), players will be able to pick up similar resources without having to watch the inventory window, as it was in Resident Evil 2. Thus, you will have the opportunity to collect health-restoring grass and other ammunition literally “on the go.”
  • Almost all journalists in unison praise the central star of the upcoming remake – the creepy monster Nemesis. Sworn adversary Jill Valentine is a real death machine. He tirelessly pursues a girl, effectively appears in the most unexpected places, and behaves significantly more aggressively than Mr. X from last year’s Resident Evil 2. Nemesis has incredible maneuverability and can overcome huge jump distances in fractions of a second, literally ahead of you and immediately preparing for an attack. But if you encounter a monster face to face and you are separated by several meters, then Umbrella’s perfect biological weapons can go on ultra-fast running, easily breaking through any obstacles, including random zombies.

  • As in the original, if you still manage to defeat the Nemesis in one of the optional battles, then after your (temporary) demise the monster will leave some useful item. It can be reinforced cartridges or an improvement for weapons.
  • The very same modifications for the arsenal, the developers promise an impressive amount – high-capacity stores, laser pointers and even silencers.
  • Moreover, with each of its appearance, Nemesis can present more and more surprises.. The demo shown by journalists ends with a dynamic chase, where the Nemesis, now armed with a huge flamethrower, forces Jill to flee through an unfinished building. Later, the episode ends with an open battle.

  • Another creepy monster from the original game returns in the remake – the hideous arachnids Drain Deimos. These vile parasites settled in the Raccoon City power station, at the very epicenter of which at some point Jill will set off. Monsters can move along walls and ceilings, make quick attacks, and also poison the main character, in which case you will urgently have to use specially treated grass.
  • Next, the developers demonstrated the following type of monsters – Gamma Hunters or Y Hunters. Their fans of the original could remember how amphibian-like opponents found in Raccoon City Park. In the remake, the artists noticeably altered the image of these monsters, increasing them in size and endowing them with giant jaws. With these formidable monsters that can instantly swallow a person alive, Jill will face in the sewer.

  • So many elements in the new game work in exactly the same way with last year’s Resident Evil 2. The inventory system has not undergone changes both from the functional point of view and from the visual. The map still highlights the unexplored areas in red, and extra bags scattered around the world allow you to carry more items.
  • For those players who are afraid of unnecessary difficulties, Resident Evil 3 added an easy difficulty level.. When passing on this option, Jill’s health is replenished automatically, you find more ammo, and opponents pose a lesser threat. Plus, you immediately get at your disposal a powerful automatic rifle, which is a direct quote from one of the features of the light level in 1999 Resident Evil 3.

In general, members of the press praise the remake and say that it will surprise both newcomers and fans.

Many publications directly point out that Resident Evil 3 relies on the foundation of last year’s remake of Resident Evil 2 as much as possible, however, they admit that if the final version of the game can be as stable as a two-hour demo, then we will have a real gift that offers really a lot of new.

Resident Evil 3 will be released April 3 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
