Thanks for the beta test: Sony has launched a new program for PlayStation 5 owners

Company Sony launched a beta testing program for new firmware Playstation 5… Starting today, console owners can register on a dedicated page to join the first beta of the new PS5 system update. After that, users will be automatically added to the pool of potential participants for future software beta tests.

Registration is open to players over 18 from the US, Canada, Japan, UK, Germany and France. Russia is not yet on the list of countries.

Users who will be selected to participate in the program will receive an email with instructions on how to download the beta version of the next PlayStation 5 system update. If desired, testers can roll back to the latest official software version

In mid-spring, on April 14th, Sony released the first global PS5 firmware update, adding temporary storage of PS5 games on external USB drives (but no playback capability), cross-platform Share Play, game patch preloading, support for 1080p monitors with refresh rates 120Hz and a new option to automatically switch video output to SDR mode for games and other non-HDR content.

One of the undeclared features of the update was a bug fix with regular loud disk reads.
