In March due to the coronavirus pandemic Microsoft announced that it is temporarily suspending the release of optional Windows 10 updates. They usually came out in the third or fourth week of each month. This was done so that developers can focus on OS security fixes.
But now it is reported that the company intends to renew the release of such updates for desktop and server Windows 10 version 1809 and later. These patches will be available this month, around July 24th. At the same time, the mandatory cumulative updates that are released on the second Tuesday of the month will continue to be released on schedule.
As noted, these updates are not security related. They include bug fixes and program crashes. However, the users themselves make the decision to install them. If the PC owner does not want to install the patch, the system will no longer offer it in the list of available ones.
