Gabe Newell: Valve scares not the Epic Games Store, but Apple’s business model

Head of the studio Valve Gabe Newell commented on the situation around the digital store Steamwho actively presses the competitor in the face Epic Game Store. The top manager shared his thoughts with the publication Edge.

According to Newell, he sees nothing wrong with the competition in the digital sales market. On the contrary, it keeps the players in good shape and makes the platform holder be extremely honest with his audience. However, in the short term it looks rather dirty.

“You are like this:“ Grrr, they scream, they try to make us bad. ”But in the long run, everyone benefits from discipline and a thoughtful approach to work,” he explained.

The head of Valve added that the studio is not afraid of competition from EGS, but people who are trying to eradicate this very competition. Newell doesn’t like managers who are in love with Apple’s business model and are trying in every way to hinder the competitor’s output with the help of an army of bureaucrats.

It is much better if an opponent enters the arena trying to design his store so as to minimize the added value.
