As we have already had the opportunity to present in our tried in July , those who were thinking of being in front of one of the many walking simulator with a very linear structure and minimal interaction with minimal terms, would do better to change his mind. Soon we will explain the reason, but before going further we want to remind you that Last Day of June will be available starting August 31 for PC and PlayStation 4,
at a price of 19.99 euros. Moreover, on Steam there is a particularly attractive promotion: from day one until September 14th it will be possible to buy the game and get free Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons. An interesting initiative, considering that the two works develop in their own way the theme of affections and loss, making both lever on emotionality and game mechanics out of the ordinary.
In other words, if you have not yet had the chance to play the Starbreeze title and are inclined to immerse yourself in the colorful and poignant adventure represented in Last Day of June, you would do better to make us a little thought.
THE INTERSECTIONS OF DESTINY
One does not escape the plots of destiny. In a nutshell, this is the message that makes its way during the tormenting adventure told in Last Day of June. Carl and June have sworn eternal love, yet fate seems to have many other projects in store.
We meet them in what, at first sight, seems to be a quiet summer day, on the banks of a small lake. A flower donated and stuck in the hair, a gift to unwrap before returning home. But it is precisely during the return journey that the irreparable happens.
A few moments are enough to make us realize that something that afternoon went terribly wrong. An unpredictable event and the car on which the couple is located ends up off the road. June does not make it,
Carl survives but remains paralyzed and is forced to live the rest of his days locked in a wheelchair. In the house now emptied of any joy, the sense of emptiness becomes increasingly unsustainable. Then, quite unexpectedly, a flicker of hope makes its way: through some paintings left by June, the protagonist realizes he manages to evade the flow of time and to try to modify the events of that unfortunate day.
To do so, it will be necessary to influence the actions taken in those fateful hours by the other villagers, in an attempt to subvert the events and embrace their beloved. a flicker of hope makes its way: through some paintings left by June, the protagonist realizes he is able to avoid the flow of time and to try to modify the events of that unfortunate day.

What struck us most about Last Day of June is the idea from which the developers started to represent the mental journey of hope of poor Carl, giving the player the task of recomposing a puzzle made of various combinations, with the purpose last to bring back the serenity in the life of the eyewear protagonist.
As said, if the gameplay gives more than a few surprises, marking the progression with a certain grace, the sound component has played a not indifferent role in riding the emotions that are felt during this particular narrative progression.
And if from the point of view of interaction, the solutions adopted seemed to us brilliant, even in their simplicity, the music composed by Steven Wilson represent the classic icing on the cake for those who, like myself, have been experiencing a great passion and an equally
solid respect for the works of the British artist. Wilson is a master in transmitting to the listener a whirlwind of emotions, his compositions are very well associated with the images and fit perfectly with the kind of story proposed, supporting both the moments of harmony and the phases of melancholic reflection.
The tracks selected to represent the journey of Carl proved to be very apt and it would suffice to cite The Raven That Refused to Sing, taken from the homonymous album of 2013, to pass the concept without really need to add much more.
