Portal sources DigiTimes the Taiwanese supply chain says Sony intends to shorten the PlayStation 5’s production cycle to 5 years, while increasing the overall system circulation.

By the end of 2025, the company intends to release “at least” 120 million new generation consoles, and as a maximum – 170 million… Overall, Sony intends to produce about twice as many PlayStation 5s as Microsoft’s Xbox Series X.

For comparison, for 6 years circulation PS4 exceeded 110 million devices, although the rate of sales of the system remains record-breaking.

At the same time, do not forget that Bloomberg recently reported an increase in PS5 circulation for the current year: earlier Sony planned to release about 6 million systems by April 2023, while now it expects to send about 10 million consoles to warehouses by the end of 2023.

In the fall, Sony will release two models of the nextgen – with and without a floppy drive. Microsoft is also planning two consoles for 1080p (Xbox Series S) and 4K (Xbox Series X), according to media reports.
