Be patient: The creators of Final Fantasy VII Remake told at what stage the development of the sequel is

The continuation of the remake released on April 10 Final Fantasy VII is now at the planning stage. Developers ponder the concept and collect ideas, but have no final approved production schedule. They talked about this in an official interview, which was published in a recently published guidebook in Japan Final Fantasy VII Remake Ultimania.

The first part of Final Fantasy VII Remake was set in Midgar. In the sequel, the heroes must go to other places famous for the original game, and the developers have not yet fully figured out what they will do with the global world map.

“Action of the first part [компиляции] Final Fantasy VII Remake took place in Midgar. It was I who was responsible for the development of this city during the creation of the original, so I know it like the back of my hand. But the next games will take place in places that, frankly, I already remember poorly. So I have to watch the gameplay to refresh my memories. For example, when the heroes leave Midgar, how exactly do they end up in Kalm? ” Motomu Toriyama, co-director of Final Fantasy VII Remake, creator of the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy.

The developers agree that the second part of the Final Fantasy VII remake should be more “open” and allow players to “feel the vastness of the Final Fantasy VII universe.” But how all this will be realized structurally, they have not decided yet. The fact is that you can’t do a primitive map of the times of the game with the first PlayStation, and when creating a big world using modern technologies, it is important not to forget about balance – Final Fantasy VII Remake is positioned as a narrative adventure, so the story in the second part should remain exciting and not sag.

“We have yet to deal with the issue [переосмысления карты]. If we decide to create a big world, we need to decide how we can simultaneously submit an exciting story, “explained Naoki Hamaguchi, another co-director of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

In another interview published on Final Fantasy VII Remake Ultimania, Game Development Manager Tetsuya Nomura and Senior Producer Yoshinori Kitasethat they haven’t decided yet how many parts the project will consist of.

“A lot depends on which department will be responsible for production. The total number of games plays a big role. If we decide that each next project should become really large-scale, then development will take more time, respectively. Or we decide to create some games of a smaller size, then they can come out faster. Personally, I would like the next part to be released as soon as possible, “said Nomura.

Interestingly, Square Enix announced the start of the creation of the second part of Final Fantasy VII Remake last year. Now it turns out that the team has not yet figured out the concept.
