Authors of Disco Elysium officially translate the game into Russian – review

Disco elysium officially translated into Russian, about which the portal Dtf said the chief editor of the localization of Alexander “Alfina” Golubev.

From the girl’s words it follows that the developers decided not to contact the classic agencies, but wanted to personally choose a translation team for each language. Many instructions were provided to localizers, and teams from different countries are consulted through Slack.

Enthusiasts, led by Volga Kapitonova, are engaged in the translation into Russian – they independently began to engage in localization, after which the studio officially hired them. And then they invited Alfina to work.

Recall that Disco Elysium is a text-based role-playing game, so if it is translated poorly or incorrectly, it will simply “break”. That is why the translation is treated with caution, trying to choose the most suitable team.

Disco Elysium has a chic and complex text and world. There, in both senses, a heap of words of original phenomena, a heap of borrowings from various cultures, humor and tragedy, political debate and the ancient reptilian brain, a postpost and a Shakespearean line.

RPG came out simultaneously with The outer worlds and unexpectedly was able to overshadow the genre counterpart in many aspects: at The Game Awards 2019, the project received award for narration and became the best role-playing game of the ceremony.

Alfina, by the way, worked on a remake of “Mora“And became a translator of the second edition of Jason Schreier’s book”Blood, sweat and pixels“.
