Starbreeze is in difficult times – Payday 3 still hasn’t found a publisher

Swedish company Starbreezeknown in particular for Payday 2experiencing serious financial problems over the past few years. She was previously forced to sell numerous publishing licenses and assets, cancel console ports failed Overkill’s the walking deadlay off staff and even renew creation of paid content for a cooperative action movie Payday 2. It seemed that the Swedes came out of a difficult situation, but the trouble came from the other side and affected their next project – Payday 3.

In a recent financial report for the first quarter of this year, Starbreeze noted that she was able to significantly reduce her losses – from $ 17 million in the 1st quarter of 2019 to $ 9.9 million now. However, bad news was not without. CEO of a company Michael Nermark noted that negotiations with potential publishers Payday 3 still coming, but due to various travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, “ongoing discussions are somewhat difficult”. It seems that the team has so far failed to agree with any of the publishers.

According to the financial report for the last quarter, Payday games accounted for 99% of sales, so it is not surprising that the Swedish company wants to find a publisher for its future project as soon as possible. Payday is just about everything Starbreeze has left for the moment. Payday 3 planned to be released no earlier than 2023.
