NieR, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy: Athletes’ Parade at the 2023 Olympics Opening Ceremony Held to Music From Games

The parade of athletes as part of the opening ceremony of the XXXII Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo was accompanied by music from popular Japanese game series, including Final Fantasy, Kingdom hearts, Tales of, Monster hunter, Ace Combat and even NieR… The event was broadcast live worldwide.

A total of 206 delegations took part in the parade. The first to appear on the arena was the Greek national team – to the music from the cult role-playing franchise Dragon quest company Square enix

The event was not without scandals. Some Western journalists have already called the admission of the Dragon Quest track to the opening ceremony of the 2023 Olympics “a big mistake.” The fact is that a few years ago, the permanent composer of the series, Koichi Sugiyama, opposed the support of the LGBT community.… This caused a large scandal online.
