First footage and development details: Ninja Theory unveils new Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II cinematic

Creative director Ninja Theory Tamim Antoniades shared during Xbox Games Showcase Extended new details of the development of an action-adventure game Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II

  • Now the studio is busy creating a “volumetric piece of the game” (apparently, we are talking about a vertical cut), after which production will begin in full force.
  • Hellblade is a special project for Ninja Theory. The authors did not want to do just a direct sequel and set themselves the task of creating something very special.
  • The events of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will unfold in Iceland in the 9th century. The studio dispatched artists and sound specialists to the island to collect materials and make photogrammetry scans that combine with satellite data to create the landscape.
  • Photogrammetry is also used to create models – the authors sew real costumes and then scan them. The developers have partnered with Epic Games.
  • To make the combat realistic and brutal, all the animators took combat training courses, and the performer of the role of Senua Melina Jurgens spent two years preparing.

In addition, Ninja Theory has revealed a new trailer with some assets in development. The game footage presented in the video does not reflect the final quality

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is created for Xbox Series X / S and PC… According to rumors, the release will take place no earlier than 2023.
