Consoles Xbox Series X / S are shared by most PC games, and cross-platform title development should become even easier in the future. At the event Microsoft Game Stack Live it was announced that the latest game development kits (GDKs) for the next generation of Xbox systems now fully support AMD FidelityFX…
This allows developers to access select optimization tools from the AMD FidelityFX suite.… At the moment, support for the following technologies is announced:
- Contrast Adaptive Sharpening – improving the clarity and sharpness of the image with minimal artifacts;
- Variable shading – Grayscale processing with variable shading frequency, allowing you to optimize rendering for maximum performance without sacrificing image quality;
- Raytraced shadow denoiser – Reduces noise when using ray-traced shadows.
A number of PC games are already taking advantage of the company’s solutions, including Cyberpunk 2077, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Godfall and Horizon: Zero Dawn, and later, an analogue will be added to the toolbox NVIDIA DLSS (FidelityFX Super Resolution)… The technology should be cross-platform and is slated for release this year, but the current goal is to launch FSR for PC first. This is AMD’s top priority right now.
About AMD FidelityFX Appearance on Playstation 5 nothing is known yet…
