Previously, some users Reddit told that technical support PSN agreed to refund money for versions of Cyberpunk 2077 for Playstation 4… There was also information that Sony was allegedly preparing some kind of legal claim against CD Projekt RED due to the release situation.
However, after the official representatives of the Polish studio published another text on a yellow background with “apologies”, the position of the platform holder has changed. Many PSN users now complain that they are being refused refunds.
Technical support advises gamers to “wait for the patch”, which should be released only in February 2023. However, a press release from CD Projekt RED said that disgruntled buyers can issue a refund through PSN.
It is also interesting what to return the money doesn’t want and technical support Xbox live, which was more loyal to customers before. It is not possible to issue a refund and people who purchased physical copies in retail chains (distinguished themselves representatives GameStop).
The current situation puts retailers, Sony, Microsoft and CD Projekt RED, for issuing a refund via Steam or GOG.com much easier.
It is not clear how the quality control of the platform holders generally missed such a crude product (the Xbox One version is now virtually unplayable). And the first released patch for Cyberpunk 2077 could not even fix the problems indicated in the description (bugs with switching the camera in the car, resetting localization settings, and so on).
It is possible that the scandal with the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 could develop into a class action lawsuit and full-scale legal proceedings. The fact is that the developers deliberately misled the players and journalists.
So, in 2019, representatives of CD Projekt RED said that the game looks “amazing” on consoles. The mantra was repeated during the investor report at the end of November 2023. As the head of the company said Adam Kitsinsky, Cyberpunk 2077 works “surprisingly well” on baseline PS4 and Xbox One. Most of the journalists were given a review on the PC version of the game, banning the publication of screenshots and video recordings of gameplay.
Separately, it should be noted that Cyberpunk 2077 was supposed to be released in the spring of 2023, when the Xbox Series X / S, PlayStation 5 and a new generation of video cards from Nvidia and AMD… However, the announcement of the release date allowed CD Projekt RED to start collecting pre-orders, helping to recoup production costs thanks to the hype.
Looking at the current state of the Xbox One and PlayStation versions, there are doubts that they can be saved at all, given the nightmare level of performance, extremely low resolution, problems with loading textures and cut-down graphics.
