VGC: Capcom froze PS4-exclusive Deep Down when it was almost ready

Announced back in 2013, role-playing action Deep down was frozen by the company Capcom in a state of almost complete readiness. This is reported by the publication Video Games Chronicle with reference to their sources.

“Our sources say that the project was sent to a distant box when it was almost ready,” the report said.

The reasons for this decision are unknown. Apparently, Capcom at the last moment decided to remake the game, deciding that this would help attract a wider audience. In 2014, a “change in production rate” was reported. They were going to distribute Deep Down according to the shareware model.

At the end of 2019, the producer Yoshinori Ono told in an interview with Eurogamer, that the original Deep Down development team has long diverged into other projects, but Capcom still owns the rights to the brand and does not lose hope of releasing the title one day.
