Two more directors joined the series The Last of Us – Yasmila Zhbanich and Ali Abbasi

To the production of a series based on The last of us for HBO two more directors joined. Bosnian director will film some episodes of the show, Variety reports Yasmila Zhbanich and Swedish-Iranian director Ali Abbasi

Zhbanich’s latest work, the military-historical drama Where Are You Going, Aida ?, was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, and won an award on Thursday Film Independent Spirit Award as the best international tape.

In turn, Abbasi became a prize-winner of the “Unusual Look” program at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018 for the fantasy drama “On the Border of the Worlds”.

Earlier it became known that the pilot episode of “The Last of Us” will be directed by a Russian director Kantemir Balagov (“Dylda”). Filming of the series is due to start in July in Canada, and the main roles will be performed by Pedro Pascal (“The Mandalorian”) and Bella Ramsay (“Game of Thrones”). Also recently joined the cast of the show Gabriel Luna (“Terminator: Dark Fate”). He will play Tommy, Joel’s younger brother.
