Metacritic has made the top best console exclusives of the outgoing generation. The rating included 40 games with the highest score according to professional critics, who appeared on only one of the three consoles of the current generation: Xbox one, Playstation 4 or Nintendo switch.
The list was ranked according to the following rules:
- Games with less than 15 reviews were not taken into account;
- Add-ons, DLC kits, and multi-game compilations were not taken into account;
- If the game was released on the previous generation, PC or portable / mobile devices, it was still taken into account, provided that it did not appear on more than one of the three current consoles.
As a result, the top 40 formed the following titles:
