Sony worked on a cartoon about the events of the first The Last of Us – frames and sketches appeared

Ahead of Release The Last of Us: Part II company Sony planned to release an animated short film that would tell beginners and remind fans of the series about the events of the first part. The whole story was presented in the form of the memoirs of Ally and Joel, sitting somewhere around the fire, but, unfortunately, at some point the plans changed and work on the project was curtailed.

Creative agency created the 20-minute short Oddfellow. Yesterday, a selection of material on the canceled cartoon appeared on their website, including the final shots and the first sketches.

“A bonfire appears to be a fundamental part of human experience. It provides light, warmth and serves as a beacon for everyone who has gone astray. And it is also an eternal place where stories are told and shared.”

“Our plan was to reinterpret each chapter of the game with a unique visual approach. Using a unique narrative setup would allow us to combine styles and move seamlessly between past and present. Subsequently, Sony decided not to continue working on the project.” – said the Oddfellow team.

The Last of Us: Part II will be released on May 29th exclusively on PlayStation 4.
