Creative director NetherRealm Studios Ed Boone confirmed that the studio is now working on new projects that go beyond the series Injustice and Mortal kombat. The developer disclosed information about this during a live broadcast Summer Games Festorganized by Jeff Cayley.
“Mortal Kombat has become a sort of pillar of the industry, just like Marvel. You don’t think that when you see the latest Marvel movie, everyone understands that they will go on and on.
Although we can do more than that, for example, you know that we have the Injustice series, plus something else is being prepared now, we are always pleased to work on Mortal Kombat games, especially when they are accepted as they are now.
If you told me then that in 20 years we will have the fastest-selling Mortal Kombat of all, I would never have believed it. It’s cool that the series now feels better than ever. “
Interestingly, back in January, players noticed a hint in Mortal Kombat 11 Injustice 3, however, it’s now possible that the next NetherRealm Studios game may be something completely new. Now the developers are preparing to release a story extension Aftermath for Mortal kombat 11which release will take place in two days.
