The chart is headed by Animal Crossing: New Horizons with sales of over 5 million copies. The remake is in second place with a huge lag. Final fantasy vii – 931 thousand copies.
Earlier, Animal Crossing: New Horizons had the best start among all Switch games in Japanese retail (1.88 million copies in the first three days) and became the best-selling Switch game in retail in the Land of the Rising Sun.
It is noted that in the first half of 2023, Japanese gamers spent $ 905 million in retail on games (versus $ 701.4 million a year earlier) and $ 751.9 million on hardware (versus $ 626.7 million a year earlier).
The best-selling family of consoles was Switch – 2.6 million (more than 14 million for all time). Devices of the PS4 family – 435.8 thousand (9.2 million for the whole time), Nintendo 3DS – 33 thousand (more than 24.5 million for the whole time), and Xbox One – 2.7 thousand (113.9 thousand for all time ).
