Maggie Gyllenhaal will play Elvis Presley’s mother in a biopic about the musician – review

According to Variety, Maggie Gyllenhaal (“The Dark Knight”, “Two”) will play the mother Elvis Presley – Gladys Presley – in a new biopic about the life of a musician.

The painting is engaged in Baz Lurman, producer “Moulin rouge” and The Great Gatsby with Leonardo DiCaprio. In addition, he was partly responsible for the script together with Craig Pearce, who also worked on the above paintings.

The main role Austin Robert Butler (“Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood”), whereas Tom Hanks got the party manager Tom Parker. Apparently, the story will largely develop from his point of view, focusing on the moment when Parker began to pursue a career as a young performer.

This will be Lurman’s first film since Gatsby in 2013, after which he also worked on Netflix’s Annealing series. Production of a new painting should start in the spring.

By the way, last December, the director acquired the rights to staging “Masters and Margaritas” Mikhail Bulkagov. Full-fledged work on the project should start just after the biopic about Elvis.
