In future versions of Android, games can be launched without waiting for a full download

Resource XDA-Developers has repeatedly become a source of leaks about the new features of Android. This time it is reported that a future version of the mobile operating system may receive a new file system – incremental.
Its essence is described in the internal documentation Google. This system will allow applications and games to run. Without waiting for a full file download. The developers describe this system as a virtual FS for Linux. It is separately mentioned that it will allow launching large applications before their binary files and resources are fully downloaded to the device.
This is implemented in consoles Microsoft and Sony, where you can run this or that game without waiting for the download to finish. The same is done in some online games. At the moment, the system is being tested on a smartphone Pixel 4 XL. As for the release, according to experts from XDA-Developers, the new product should be expected in a year in Android 12.
At the same time, game developers will most likely have to update their projects in order to take advantage of the incremental file system.
