The year 2023 has begun for CS: GO teams from the CIS as well as possible. The teams from our region have already won the two largest tournaments at the start of the season, their leaders settled down with the titles of MVP and entered the fight for the title of the best player of 2023, and Arseny ceh9 Trinozhenko said that “our region is now fed up with not only NAVI”. But just a year ago, when only one team from the CIS was stable on the tier-1 stage, fans could only count on rare ups of other teams. The stories of the brightest CS: GO teams from the CIS are in Cybersport.ru.

dAT Team (2014)

Despite the ubiquitous hate to the person Andrey B1ad3 Gorodensky on the part of foreign journalists, many modern captains and coaches can envy his talent to reveal the potential of young players. Back in 2014, B1ad3 played for the squad dAT Team, which included absolutely “green” flamie, bondik, WorldEdit and ub1que… At that time, the CIS was shining Natus Vincere and HellRaisers, largely thanks to the eminent players in the roster, but the dAT Team roster was a group of beginners who were just starting their way on the professional CS: GO scene.

In July 2014, Gorodensky’s roster reached its peak, having won the European qualifier for Major ESL One Cologne 2014. At the tournament itself, the team failed to show what it was capable of, but it was then that fans first saw the performance of emerging CIS stars against the real strong rivals. That Major became a ticket to the world of big Counter-Strike for many dAT Team players, and it is for this that the tag will forever remain in history.

Natus Vincere (2015-2017)

In 2013, a year after the release of the new version of Counter-Strike, there was only one team in the CIS that could be paid attention to, and this team, of course, was Natus Vincere. Initially, the roster, once the best in the world in CS 1.6, moved to the Global Offensive with its full roster, but not all members of that team were able to fully adapt to the new version of the shooter. In 2014, NAVI decided to part with several players, and it was then that an experienced team joined the team. Ladislav GuardiaN Kovacs and very young Denis seized Kostin… Many years later Egor markeloff Markelov, who then left the team, will explain the reasons for such a decision in the following way: “We couldn’t play then, I felt it for a long time. We didn’t manage to do it by the end of 1.6, that is, it lasted one and a half to two years ”.

Everything changed in April 2015, when the talented and promising Russian Yegor flamie Vasiliev moved to the camp of the Ukrainian club from HellRaisers, who turned 18 four days before the transfer. It was with him that Natus Vincere began to rise in the lineup. Through a combination of experience Zeus and Edward, ambition and firepower flamie and seized, as well as the simply amazing game GuardiaN, the team rose greatly in the HLTV.org rankings and began to win major championships. The peak result of that roster was two majors grand finals in a row, but in those meetings NAVI did not have enough energy to fight to the end. Nevertheless, this roster will forever go down in history as the first CIS roster to achieve significant success in CS: GO.

FlipSid3 Tactics (2015)

At the very beginning of 2015, the entire CIS community was stunned by the news of a loud reshuffle. At that time, teams from our region were on the rise: Natus Vincere were already butting with the best teams in the world, and dAT Team and HellRaisers with a young star s1mple in the line-up they actively sought to catch up. However, in January 2015, the HR management made an ambiguous decision to get rid of Kostylev and replace him with flamie, referring to the fact that the Ukrainian is prohibited from participating in the majors because of the ban. Together with s1mple, who was only showing promise at that time, the already established superstar in the person of Yegor markeloff Markelov joined the dAT Team, and just a couple of weeks after the transfer, this roster signed contracts with FlipSid3 Tactics

Let’s be honest, that team did not achieve serious results, but it definitely left its mark on history as the most extravagant roster from the CIS. It was during the performances for FlipSid3 that the young s1mple earned himself a not very good reputation, from which he had to clean up over the next few years. Kostylev smoked directly on the LAN during the side switching, ridiculed the game of his captain B1ad3 in the general chat and did not choose expressions, criticizing partners for mistakes. Judging by the fact that now s1mple and Gorodenskiy are successfully working together at NAVI, and the rest of Kostylev’s FlipSid3 teammates, one by one, mark the exorbitant level of the Ukrainian’s play, we can say with confidence that all personal misunderstandings between the players have been left behind. Well, fans will forever remember the tag under which Kostylev’s star once lit up.

Gambit Esports (2017)

In 2017, the professional CS: GO scene in the CIS was shocked by the news of another loud reshuffle. Almost eight years later, Natus Vincere’s permanent captain Daniil Zeus Teslenko left the team. That story was painted in dark colors in connection with the circumstances of the Ukrainian’s departure – the most popular theory at that time, confirmed in the future, said that the decision to kick the legendary esports player was taken behind his back in order to take his place by the more promising s1mple. Well, what happened next is a story worthy of being filmed in Hollywood.

After the news about Zeus leaving NAVI, the community was unanimous in its forecast – “Teslenko’s time to retire, he has already won back.” And there were no obvious prospects for the Ukrainian, as all the strong teams from the CIS were completed. But Zeus would not be Zeus if he simply dropped his hands in difficult times. On the contrary, the titled Ukrainian decided on another adventure and literally restarted his career from scratch, joining the roster Gambit Esports… At that time, this team was just gaining momentum and was even able to reach the playoffs of the Major.
