Hollywood veterans Samuel L. Jackson and Danny Glover to receive honorary Academy Awards

Hollywood veterans Samuel L. Jackson and Danny Glover were among four industry figures to receive an honorary Oscar next year for their contributions to film production and society, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Thursday.

The award will be presented as part of the Governors Awards ceremony January 15, 2023… Screenwriter-director Elaine May and Norwegian actress Liv Ullman

During his career, Jackson has starred in over 100 films. The most famous works of the actor were the role of Nick Fury in the MCU and the film “Pulp Fiction” directed by Quentin Tarantino, for which the actor was nominated for an Oscar in 1994.

Ullmann has often collaborated with Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman. She starred in the films “Person”, “Passion”, “Screams and Whispers” and other films of the director. The actress also received two Oscar nominations for Best Actress in The Emigrants in 1971 and Face to Face in 1976.

May was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for 1978’s Heaven Can Wait and 1999’s Primary Colors. Earlier in her career, she was part of the comedy duo Nichols and May, which debuted in 1958 with Mike Nichols.

Glover, in turn, is familiar to many as the star of the Lethal Weapon series of action movies. He will be awarded the Gene Hersholt Humanitarian Award for Advocacy for Justice and Human Rights. At the moment, the actor is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
