Concept art of the canceled AAA game based on “Power Rangers“.
Images on his microblog were shared by Jason Bischoff, former Hasbro global director of franchising for Power Rangers, now at Funko.
The game was codenamed Project nomad and was planned as an ambitious co-op adventure in the open world in the spirit of Gotham knights: a kind of “Gotham Rangers” that promised to show the history of the franchise from a new angle. Judging by the presented concepts, in the game you could meet many different rangers from all over space.
The project began to be worked out in 2016, but the matter did not move beyond the pitch.… Back then, Hasbro did not have the resources and budget for independent development, and protracted negotiations with external studios / publishers and large-scale business changes superimposed on top led to the fact that Project Nomad was simply canceled.
After that, several other games were released on the series, the last of which is a 2D fighting game. Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid – was released in 2019.
