Released in 2014 Assassin’s Creed: Unity has made a real technological revolution in the series. The meticulously crafted Paris with hundreds of residents everywhere and detailed interiors, coupled with a big visual leap and a quality global illumination system, still looks good, but the problem with the game lay in the depressing performance on consoles.
After the release of Assassin’s Creed: Unity, they tried to improve, but only with the release of the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X, the game was able to approach 30 frames per second, and even then not always.
Now, with a generational change looming on the horizon, experts Digital foundry decided to check how Assassin’s Creed: Unity is doing on Xbox series x, and were pleasantly surprised. It turned out that the new Microsoft console is consistently pulling the game at a speed 60 frames per second… To do this, however, it was required to find the original disk, since in the case of the digital version, all updates are immediately downloaded, where the frame rate is locked at 30 FPS.
In addition, it is noted that on the Xbox Series X the game not only works, but also looks better thanks to the forced 16x anisotropic texture filtering. The only thing, since the original version of Unity was launched, there is a high probability of stumbling upon various bugs that were fixed in updates, but for DF themselves, for several hours of testing, the problems were limited only to disappearing NPCs and a few glitching shadows in one of the rooms.
In conclusion, Digital Foundry concluded that the arrival of the nextgen opens up a good opportunity for the appearance of a remaster of Assassin’s Creed: Unity. They hope that Ubisoft will not pass by this opportunity.
