Deflection Counted: The creators of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 supported the LGBT community – not everyone liked it

Studio CD Projekt RED expressed support for the LGBT community by updating its profile image on social networks Facebook and Twitter logo in rainbow colors. This happened against the backdrop of sexual minorities celebrating the month of Pride (Pride). But according to the local press, not everyone supported the team – especially in the comments on local forums and sites.

For many years, June has remained the month when many large companies openly demonstrate their support for the LGBT community, thereby paying tribute to the American LGBT movement, which began in 1969.

In the story with CD Projekt and Poland, the fact that the country’s president is also curious Andrzej Duda during his election campaign, he made negative statements about minorities. In particular, he stated that LGBT ideology is more destructive than communism, which his parents once fought with.

After the Western press wrote about this, Duda said that his words were taken out of context – he allegedly has nothing against diversity and equality, but believes that the beliefs of minorities should not be imposed on the majority.

As for the CD Projekt RED itself, it previously appeared several times in the midst of scandals, when she was accused of homophobia and transphobia. The studio tried to correct and implement several important applications in Cyberpunk 2077. For example, in the editor, the characters are no longer signed with the words “man” and “woman”, and the capabilities of the toolkit are seriously pumped. Now you can even combine genitals.

Part of the Polish audience accuses the studio of “deflection” and “attempts to adapt to the political and social agenda.” Others consider repainting the logo in rainbow colors as “meaningless”, “insincere” and “not helping the LGBT community.” Some users even announced a boycott of CD Projekt and write about the cancellation of pre-orders for Cyberpunk 2077, which was released carried over from September to November of the current year.

However, the studio’s position also has supporters. They write that it is time for LGBT opponents to “get out of the Stone Age and look at the civilized world.”
