Publisher Ubisoft again found itself at the center of a scandal over its controversial marketing decisions. This time it’s about Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla…
Despite a number of shortcomings and bugs, the new game was positively received by gamers and journalists. But the publisher clearly wanted to make more money on the project, avoiding unnecessary criticism that could negatively affect sales.
Therefore, just a month after the release, the developers added to Valhalla the opportunity to purchase XP boosts and get money. The phenomenon is not new to Assassin’s Creed, but earlier the opportunity was available immediately. Prior to this, gamers suspected that Ubisoft allegedly deliberately delayed pumping in Assassin’s creed odysseyto force them to buy time savers.
Note that the French company is far from the first to decide on such “dirty” maneuvers. An example was Activisionwhich added loot boxes to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 a few months after the release, which caused the ire of the players and the displeasure of journalists.
