Inspired The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild shareware role-playing game Genshin Impact from the studio miHoYo launched on the international market better than any other Chinese project in history.
Edition South China Morning Post reports that just hours after its worldwide release, the shareware role-playing game already had around 110,000 concurrent viewers on video hosting Twitch. This figure was even higher than Fortnite at the start.
According to Qimai Data, the game has become the second most profitable app in the Chinese App Store, behind only Douyin – local analogue of TikTok. According to an analytical company, Genshin Impact at the time of this writing, it has already managed to earn $ 1.84 million.
MiHoYo also boasted a record pre-order record, with 5.3 million people pre-registering on the website of creators outside of China, bringing the total number of people registering in China across all platforms to 16 million.
Co-founder of miHoYo Liu Wei previously reported that the production budget (development + marketing) of the role-playing game was $ 100 million. Previous games of the studio in total generated more than 40 million installations and brought the company $ 760 million.
Release Genshin Impact took place on September 28 on PS4, PC and mobile platforms (iOS and Android). A version for Switch is being prepared.
